GeorgianGem 2009

Authors and visitors from Daniel Defoe to Charles Dickens have admired Bury St Edmunds, and William Cobbett dubbed it "the nicest little town in the world". A thriving and important provincial centre in the 18th and early 19th centuries, this delightful Suffolk market town boasts a rich and varied Georgian heritage.

Already in its third year, Georgian Gem is an initiative to promote this variety and richness with a programme of theatrical performances and illustrated talks in autumn.
