Become an integral part of the team and the life of Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds by volunteering with us….

Our theatre is much loved by many people in the community and our volunteers play a significant part of the team that works to keep the Theatre’s doors open.¬†Volunteers at Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds enjoy being part of a team of people who care about the Theatre and it’s work both in the community and in our historic building.

What do our volunteers do?

Our volunteers fulfil a range of roles and are invaluable members of our team. Some of these roles include tour guides, stewards, and distribution. Our volunteers offer excellent customer care to our visitors and audiences, and at the same time they are able to see some of our shows, meet and socialise with new and like-minded people. It is important that our volunteers understand they have real responsibilities, and we look for a love of theatre, a willingness to get stuck in and a friendly smile!

How much time do our volunteers give?

Some of our volunteers have regular sessions they work and some are available on a casual basis, it is useful for you to consider how you could volunteer as we have shows in the evenings and daytimes. We provide a Theatre Royal polo shirt and ask that you wear smart but comfortable black trousers/skirt and shoes (which you should provide).  We have an induction process and we offer regular get-togethers and some training (where relevant) in order that you can fulfil your responsibilities to the best of your abilities, offering a professional service.

How can you get involved?

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer but aren’t sure, call for an informal chat about what you are looking for. Ric Gardner, our Front of House Manager, will be happy to hear from you by calling 01284 829957 or email ric@theatreroyal.org.
