Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds

200th Anniversary Live Interpretation Auditions

Posted on: 2nd January, 2019

We are delighted to be casting volunteers aged 17+ for live interpretation roles as part of Theatre Royal’s 200th Anniversary, as part of the celebrations we are offering a number of new tours and events throughout the year, including an immersive experience that allows visitors to meet and interact with some of the fascinating figures from our past.

We are looking for volunteers to dress in historical costume and engage with visitors whilst ‘in-character’ (there will be both scripted and improvised roles). So, if you’ve ever wanted to don a bonnet or breeches, this is your chance! If you’d like to be involved in this exciting project, please register for one of our forthcoming auditions.

Auditions will take place on Thursday 24 January, venue TBC:

10am – 12 noon or 5pm – 7pm

Acting experience is desirable, but not essential as you will receive training from theatre staff. These roles are voluntary, but offer a great opportunity to meet new people, develop new skills and support the theatre. We are looking for a minimum commitment of 4 hours a month.

To register for the audition please complete and return an Audition Registration Form to Clare Barry by Mon 21 January.

Please wear clothes that you are comfortable moving around in. You will be asked to deliver a monologue (which will be sent to you beforehand) and take part in an improvisation workshop.
