Accessible Performances

If you wish to make a booking on behalf of a group we may be able to schedule additional accessible performances to the ones listed below.
Please contact us to discuss options available.

Captioned Performances

Similar to subtitles in films, captioning converts the spoken word and sound effects in a performance into text which appears on a screen on stage as it is happening.

Forthcoming captioned performances:

Shirley Valentine – Sat 15 Feb, 3pm
Quality Street – Sat 14 Mar, 3pm
The Glee Club – Sat 25 Apr, 3pm
Cinderella – Sat 9 Jan ’21, 11am

Audio Described Performances

Suitable for those who are blind or visually impaired, audio description gives you live commentary on the action happening on stage through a pair of headphones.

Forthcoming audio described performances:

Shirley Valentine – Sat 15 Feb, 3pm
Quality Street – Sat 14 Mar, 3pm
Cinderella – Sat 9 Jan ’21, 11am

Touch Tours

Touch Tours offer a guided chance to explore the set through touch and feel, available before Audio Described performances by request.

Touch tours are available for all of the audio described performances listed above, starting 1 hour before the performance. Please contact the Box Office to register to attend a touch tour.

British Sign Language performances

Spoken English is translated into British Sign Language by an on-stage interpreter.

Forthcoming British Sign Language performances:

Cinderella – Wed 9 Dec, 7pm

Relaxed Performances

In these performances, changes will be made to the show to allow for a more informal experience. Sound volumes and lighting levels will be reduced to soften their impact; pyrotechnics, flashing lights and other surprising elements are removed; and the auditorium lights will stay on during the performance. In addition to these changes, the show will begin with an introduction to the characters, explaining, in particular, any elements which may be unfamiliar to some, and there will also be a brief description of the story and events which will happen during the performance.

The Relaxed Performances are intended to be dementia and autism-friendly but the team aim to accommodate all guests needs as much as possible: seats can be booked in a manner which allows groups their own space and due to the nature of the layout of the Dress Circle and Upper Circle boxes, a smaller semi-isolated space can be easily obtained. A complimentary companion ticket is available to anyone who would be unable to attend the theatre on their own.

These performances are not bookable online, please call the Box Office on 01284 769505.

Peter Pan – Thu 9 Jan, 7pm and Fri 10 Jan, 10.30am
