Ballet Central returns in 2020 with a captivating new programme of dance theatre. See dancers on the cusp of their professional careers perform a diverse range of repertoire created by internationally acclaimed choreographers.
This year Ballet Central is working with Liam Scarlett, The Royal Ballet’s Artist in Residence who will present Serpent, an athletic ballet featuring an all-male cast, originally created for BalletBoyz. See an excerpt from renowned choreographer and director Wayne McGregor’s Symbionts and the debut of legendary choreographer Merce Cunningham’s How to Pass, Kick, Fall and Run. Showcasing her passion for storytelling, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s work Requiem for a Rose, explores the beautiful metaphor for what romance is. Scottish Ballet’s Artist in Residence Sophie Laplane is creating a new work on the company in collaboration with composer Philip Feeney, and finally, closing this year’s show will be Jenna Lee’s Rock ‘n’ Roll, a ballet inspired by the upbeat music and glamorous style of the 1950’s dance halls.
