Award winning singer Robert Habermann sings the songs and tells the story of the magical MGM musicals – from humble beginnings at the start of the talkies in 1929, to their unique celebration in the 1974 compilation film THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT!
MGM’s first ever movie song Broadway Melody was written by MGM’s rehearsal pianist Arthur Freed who later went on to produce some of the greatest film musicals ever made – SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN, AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, KISS ME KATE, ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, HIGH SOCIETY AND GIGI – as well as writing many famous movie songs: Singing In The Rain,Temptation, Good Morning, You Were Meant For Me and Broadway Rhythm. Robert Habermann tells stories of the stars who appeared in these films; JUDY GARLAND, (Wizard Of Oz ), GENE KELLY ( Singin’ In The Rain), FRED ASTAIRE (Easter Parade) FRANK SINATRA (HIGH SOCIETY) and many more known to lovers of the MGM film musical. This is its own unique glittering story of the studio that had more stars than in the heavens!
