The Good Person of Szechwan

Bury Theatre Workshop

Tue 23 — Sat 27 Jan

at Theatre Royal

By Bertolt Brecht

A jolly tale set in south-western China.  The gods come to earth in search of a truly good person.  They find only Shen Te, a goodhearted but penniless prostitute, and make her a gift of money to set up her own business.  But her goodness brings ruin and she must disguise herself as a man, Shui Ta, in order to muster sufficient ruthlessness to survive.  What will become of her?

A fabulously colourful production and a parable for our times with a large ensemble cast, songs, masks…  A theatre experience to remember!
