Drama Facilitator

The Education programme at Theatre Royal is committed to providing young people across Suffolk with the opportunity to learn from highly experienced Theatre Practitioners, watch performances from some of the leading children’s theatre companies internationally, get on stage and perform, build confidence in a familiar and friendly environment and Drama Facilitators are an integral part of its delivery.

As a Drama Facilitator, you will work with the Education team to plan and deliver workshops and act as an Ambassador for Theatre Royal and its Education department. You will work in a vibrant team of facilitators as well as individually. This post is a flexible zero hours contract. It is anticipated as minimum 2 hours and with the potential to cover a maximum of 12 hours per week as part of the After School Drama Club Programme. There will also be the opportunity to lead on other projects within the Education Programme.

Live Interpretation Volunteers

We are delighted to be casting volunteers aged 17+ for live interpretation roles as part of the 200th Anniversary celebration events. 2019 marks the 200th Anniversary of Theatre Royal and as part of the celebrations we are offering a number of new tours and events throughout the year, including an immersive experience that allows visitors to meet and interact with some of the fascinating figures from our past.

We are looking for volunteers to dress in historical costume and engage with visitors whilst ‘in-character’ (there will be both scripted and improvised roles). So, if you’ve ever wanted to don a bonnet or breeches, this is your chance! If you’d like to be involved in this exciting project, please register for one of our forthcoming auditions.

Auditions will take place on Thursday 24 January, venue TBC:

10am – 12 noon or 5pm – 7pm

Acting experience is desirable, but not essential as you will receive training from theatre staff. These roles are voluntary, but offer a great opportunity to meet new people, develop new skills and support the theatre. The role will be a minimum of 4 hours per month.

To register for the audition please complete and return an Audition Registration Form to Clare Barry by Mon 21 January.

Please wear clothes that you are comfortable moving around in. You will be asked to deliver a monologue (which will be sent to you beforehand) and take part in an improvisation workshop.

New Non-Executive Directors

The Board is seeking new non executives, initially to be appointed for three years but with the prospect of a second three year term.  The roles are unpaid.

As is the case with most small charities, as well as performing a governance role, trustees are expected to provide practical assistance and support to the executive team in areas in which they are qualified to do so.
