On this page you’ll discover some of the ways in which the TRSG has raised funds and how our donations to the Theatre have been spent.

We’ve been helped by some amazing people and we’d like to thank everyone who has supported our events and activities.

How We Help

Technical Equipment

When lighting or sound equipment is no longer fit for purpose it can be costly to replace or hire and the Supporters Group has already raised funds to provide a new lighting desk, sound system and microphones.

This continues to save the Theatre a significant amount in microphone hire fees and benefits community groups using the facilities.

Community Projects

We were proud to support the first Theatre Royal Children’s Arts Festival in 2015. Money raised by the TRSG enabled pupils from Priory Special Academy to attend a special children’s performance and Howard Middle School pupils benefited from a creative workshop led by skilled practitioners.

A more recent donation has supported Theatre Royal’s work with local charities including Women’s Refuge, Age UK and YMCA.

Front of House

Some of the money we’ve raised is used to make your visit to the Theatre more enjoyable. For example, additional booster cushions are now available for children.

Theatre Running Costs

We actively promote www.thegivingmachine.co.uk which generates a free donation every time you make an online purchase. Money raised from this simple scheme goes directly to Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds giving crucial help towards running costs.
