There are a variety of ways to explore behind-the-scenes and find out more about the rich and vibrant history of one of the oldest working theatre buildings in the country.

Guided Tours

Join one of our Guided Tours and discover why Theatre Royal is one of the most significant theatre buildings in the country. Our tours provide a fascinating and lively insight to the Theatre’s history and  last approximately one hour.


If you would prefer to take a more leisurely look around the Theatre, visit us during one of our regular Explore sessions to see the theatre at your own leisure. Admission to Explore sessions: FREE (donations requested) No advance booking required but please check with the Box Office for any schedule changes due to performances or rehearsals.

Tours and Explore sessions run from February to November, with a two week break in August.
